Within the framework of the Jean Monnet project implementation plan, a workshop and a separate section “Modern issues of ecology and environmental protection” were held at Dnipro University of Technology for students of regional universities within the framework of the XI International Scientific and Technical Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists “YOUTH: SCIENCE AND INNOVATION” (Dnipro, November 22-24, 2023).
More than 67 participants took part in the workshop and conference section, including 44 students representing 6 other regional universities in addition to Dnipro University of Technology: 1. Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Dnipro, Ukraine 2. Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine 3. Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University, Kherson, Ukraine 4. Danube Institute of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy”, Izmail, Ukraine 5. Zaporizhzhia National University, Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine 6. State Institution “Institute of Geochemistry and Environment of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”, Kyiv, Ukraine
During the workshop and section participants discussed urgent issues of introducing new eco-technologies for the restoration of contaminated lands and degraded territories affected by military operations, technologies for the treatment and disinfection of industrial wastewater, methods of phytoremediation of degraded landscapes, methods of waste disposal, and treatment of gas and dust emissions into the atmosphere.
The scientific and practical significance of the workshop and the conference section was to discuss modern practices of restoring technologically disturbed lands and assessing the environmental impact of production and technologies in the context of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
